The Field Technician plays a critical role in executing installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support activities across our network. This position blends hands‑on technical work with field coordination, quality assurance, and real‑time collaboration with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery. The territory for this position is the Tampa Bay/St. Pete, Florida area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPOSNIBILITIES
Network Installation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot fixed wireless, fiber and structured cabling infrastructure across commercial and MDU environments.
- Pull, terminate, test and certify Cat5/5e/6/7 cabling; properly terminate patch panels, keystones and RJ45 connectors.
- Perform fiber troubleshooting using light meters and/or OTDR tools to identify loss, breaks and signal issues.
- Clean and troubleshoot fiber connectors and optics.
- Deploy and configure wireless access points, routers and switches (Ruckus, Cambium, Juniper).
- Connect to network devices using console cables as directed by engineering staff.
Field Operations & Technical Support
- Execute network testing for connectivity, low‑voltage cabling and fiber diagnostics.
- Conduct site surveys, WiFi heat mapping, launch assessments and post‑installation quality reviews.
- Provide on‑site escalation support and relay technical findings clearly to engineering teams via Teams, phone or chat.
- Support MDF/IDF work including racking, stacking, cable dressing, patching and equipment configuration.
- Assist engineers in real‑time troubleshooting while onsite.
Dispatch, Communication & Reporting
- Acknowledge dispatch communications promptly—including via Teams—while maintaining safety standards.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch or management regarding delays, appointments and work prioritization.
- Upload site photos, speed tests, survey results and repair documentation using company laptop and mobile tools.
- Prioritize outage-related tasks when directed by operations.
Inventory, Tools & Logistics
- Order job materials through the approved company ordering portal as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory of vehicle stock and warehouse supplies.
- Manage and safeguard company tools, test equipment, devices and field assets.
Customer Experience & Collaboration
- Ensure all work orders and service requests are completed to company standards, safety requirements and within expected SLAs.
- Provide excellent customer service during installations, repairs and property interactions, including in high‑rise and controlled-access buildings.
- Collaborate with engineering, customer support, sales and field leadership to align activities with organizational priorities.
Safety & On‑Call
- Work safely in all environments, weather conditions, and building types.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation at least twice per month for urgent after‑hours troubleshooting and repairs.
- Report safety violations or hazards per company policies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of experience as a Wireless Tower, Low Voltage, Cable, or Network Field Technician.
- Strong experience terminating Cat5e/Cat6 and working with low-voltage cabling.
- Basic experience working with fiber optics including cleaning, inspection, and light‑meter or OTDR testing.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfortable working in MDUs, high‑rise buildings, and controlled-access environments.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience installing and maintaining wireless, fiber optic, and structured cabling systems.
- Ability to install antennas, waveguides, microwave dishes, switches, WAPs, and wireless routers (Juniper, Ruckus, Cambium).
- Familiarity with RF technologies, Wi-Fi/WiMAX networks, and AC/DC power.
- Proficiency with hand tools, mechanical equipment, and basic computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong network troubleshooting skills and ability to follow remote engineering guidance in real time.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Strong documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage field inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate stock levels.

Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
