Construction Technician
GiGstreem
In your role as Construction Technician, you are a local representative of Gigstreem and a crucial part of building the Gigstreem brand through your positive interactions with customers, clients, and partners. In this role you will be responsible for the construction, installation and quality control of the Gigstreem network, at locations including but not limited to customer premise, property grounds, in-building, rooftops, towers, and data centers.
Travel will be required full-time with a willingness to travel for several weeks at a time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review & evaluate construction plans and SOW (Scope of Work) with construction team to “kick-off” projects.
- Oversee contractor or in-house crews across multiple projects, facilitating regular updates and compliance to standards
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that construction conforms to specifications and the adherence to schedules and budget.
- Survey new and existing properties to determine existing infrastructure and serviceability, inspect quality, complete Wi-Fi heat mapping, speed testing, and perform other discovery activities as required.
- Recognize, practice, and ensure all safety rules, protocols, and procedures are followed. Report any violations to the direct supervisor or management
- Test and troubleshoot network issues including power, connectivity, cabling/equipment, and other low voltage cable or networking associated issues.
- Terminate CAT/RJ45 and punch down CAT cable into keystone jacks, 66-110 blocks, patch panels and other network hardware
- Pull, splice, terminate, and test fiber optics cable with OPM and OTDR testing equipment
- Dress out [SN1] [LW2] Communication Closets/IDF’s demonstrating exceptional attention to cleanliness of work and cable management
- Install indoor and outdoor Wireless Access Points (WAP), and other wireless hardware
- Rack and stack networking hardware including routers, switches, patch panels and battery backup equipment per Gigstreem standards and expectations.
- Update project management and operating systems daily with photos and updates for assigned projects
- Join project calls and represent Gigstreem construction with updates, address challenges, and offer solutions.
- Must have a strong and reliable work ethic, be willing and able to follow directives, and be able to work in inclement weather conditions
- Complete quality control inspections at the end of each Greenfield or Brownfield construction project assigned. Including but not limited to physical build, speed tests (hardwired and wireless) and heatmapping of access points.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Travel 100% of the time.
- Experience working with structured cabling and/or telecom equipment.
Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00 Hourly
