The Role

We are looking to add a highly motivated individual to join our California Portfolio Operations team. As General Manager, you will have end-to-end ownership over the on-the-ground operations for the Downtown Los Angeles hotel. This will include physical, technical, financial, guest, and employee challenges, while also being the face of Kasa on the ground.

In this role, you will report to the Portfolio General Manager-California and work closely with both the Revenue, Sales, Security, Engineer, Property Operations support team and our Guest Experience team. It takes a special person to oversee this property and we hope you're excited by the challenge!

This role is in our Portfolio Operations department. Our mission is to ensure our guests have a seamless in-unit experience. Day in the Life of a General Manager

Like many operations roles, there is no ‘typical day.' Your role will involve a wide range of activities tending to hotel operations. As the General Manager, you are responsible for maximizing the financial performance of the hotel by providing the highest possible quality guest service and product by encouraging a positive work environment for all employees. A normal day will consist of day-to-day operations involving a mix of administrative tasks, team management, guest interactions, and overseeing operational aspects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and participate in comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that result in. Maximum occupancy and average rates for the hotel.
  • Works directly with the ownership group to strategize and implement projects that will assist with the business growth.
  • Coordinate and assist with guest satisfaction and guest resolutions.
  • Maintain a cross-relationship with the restaurant and/or theater. Work as a team to promote the success of the entire property.
  • Protect and enhance the value of all hotel assets through appropriate programs in maintenance, security, and housekeeping and through the capital budgeting process.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all period-end financial statements and reports, and provide controls to ensure the proper handling and accounting for all hotel receipts.
  • Coordinate weekly forecasting and planning of operating staffing and cost expenditures to correspond to forecasted sales and costs.
  • Review and approve all operating expenses.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary to achieve the financial goals of the organization. EX: Networking, Local Industry Events, Community Relations
  • Supervise and develop the performance of all operating departments including, but not limited to Revenue, Sales, Security, Engineering, Property Operations support team, and our Guest Experience team.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising, performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and counseling to staff members to achieve performance objectives and their fullest potential.
  • Participate in the hiring process, and communicate performance expectations.

Experience

  • 2+ years of Full Service or Boutique Hotel General Manager Experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 5+ years of Full Service or Boutique Hotel Director of Rooms/Director of Operations experience is required.
  • 5+ years experience in a managerial role, involving hiring, supervision, and employee performance management.
  • Highly desirable profound knowledge of Los Angeles Metro regulations.
  • You enjoy mobile technology, have worked with it in past roles, and you're eager to learn new systems and platforms to make you better at your job.
  • You're flexible in your schedule and can help with emergencies whenever they arise
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; must be able to multi-task and complete tasks/projects in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you are highly responsible & reliable
  • You're comfortable lifting objects up to 25-50 pounds and standing or walking for up to 8 hours a day.
  • You can handle stressful situations with a calm and positive demeanor.
  • On-call 24/7 to meet the needs of the operation

Plus if...

  • Prior experience in Historical Hotels.
  • Prior experience in Union Hotels.
  • Prior experience in Urban Market operations.
  • Specialized experience working with boutique hotels or other startups to establish initial brand standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a hospitality-related field.

  • 💰 The Pay: The starting base pay range for this role is between $110,000 and $130,000 and is set based on multiple considerations including business needs, market demands, talent availability, experience, and unique skills and attributes.
