The Role

We are seeking an experienced Barista to join our team at STILE Downtown Los Angeles by Kasa. As Barista, you will have end-to-end ownership over the on-the-ground operations for the Downtown Los Angeles hotel. In this role, you will prepare and craft a variety of refreshing beverages for our guests. This position is ideal for someone who has worked previously in a juice bar or coffee house, as a barista or bartender preparing coffee drinks, fresh drinks, or cocktails. You'll act as an advocate for the hotel, be a creator of ridiculously personal experiences, and develop relationships with guests that will compel them to return.

Day in the life of a Kasa Barista

Like many operations roles, there is no ‘typical day.’ Your role will involve a wide range of activities tending to the hotel operation. As a Barista, your day is dynamic and customer-centric, focusing on delivering exceptional service at the café or coffee bar. Beginning by setting up the coffee station, your warm welcome to guests includes crafting specialty coffees and teas while managing transactions with precision. Beyond the counter, maintaining café cleanliness and collaborating with the front of the house staff to ensure a smooth service flow are integral. Your role extends to educating guests on coffee blends and methods, while actively contributing to café upkeep and cleanliness throughout the day. Ultimately, your dedication lies in curating memorable experiences through the art of coffee-making and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You'll greet and serve drinks guests in a warm, approachable, and hospitable manner.
  • Manage cash and credit transactions accurately and with ease.
  • Operate standard bar, coffee, and juice equipment.
  • Take pride and be passionate about your product, upselling when possible.
  • You'll ensure that all health code standards are followed to prevent the spoiling of food and beverages.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work area, including tables, barista equipment, refrigerators etc.
  • Unpack deliveries, stock items, and complete comprehensive inventory for juices, spices and fresh ingredients.

Experience/Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in a similar or supportive role is preferred.
  • 1+ years of guest service experience.
  • Food Handler Certificate (if applicable)
  • You enjoy technology, have worked with it in past roles, and you're eager to learn new systems and platforms to make you better at your job
  • You're flexible in your schedule and can work early morning and afternoon shifts including weekends + holidays
  • You have reliable transportation
  • You're comfortable lifting items up to 50 pounds
  • You can handle stressful situations with a calm and positive demeanor

💰 The Pay: The hourly rate for this role is $20.00/hr and is set based on multiple considerations including business needs, market demands, talent availability, experience, and unique skills and attributes. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for benefits and Kasa Travel Credits.
