Turno connects short-term-rental hosts with cleaners and automates the entire turnover workflow. As an Airbnb software partner, we serve tens of thousands of hosts worldwide.
Role Description
You are the single point of accountability for quality engineering at Turno—setting strategy, coaching the team, and ensuring every release is safe to ship. This is a hands-on management role; you’ll run stand-ups one hour and design a risk-based regression plan the next.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and performance-manage 7 manual QAs and 3 automation engineers.
- Own the test pyramid: manual exploratory, Playwright end-to-end, cross-device smoke, and CI gating.
- Embed junior QAs in squads; partner with EMs to enforce acceptance-criteria and test-hook standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through retros, root-cause analysis, and new-test mandates.
- Produce concise quality dashboards and weekly pulse notes for stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in software QA with 2 + years managing mixed manual/automation teams.
- Proven success lifting automation coverage and reducing production defects in a CI/CD, feature-flag environment.
- Proficiency with Playwright (or similar), GitHub Actions, Xray/Jira, and lightweight dashboarding tools.
- Strong mentoring record—especially with first-time QAs transitioning from non-technical roles.
- Clear, concise communicator who can align Engineering, Support, and Product on quality priorities.
Nice to Have
- Experience in marketplace or fintech products.
- Knowledge of mobile test frameworks and accessibility/performance tooling.
