Turno is looking for a hands-on strategic leader to be our first Director of Data & AI. You’ll own the company’s data platform, analytics, and AI enablement — both setting strategy and rolling up your sleeves to deliver. You’ll lead a small but growing team and partner directly with executives on KPIs, board reporting, product analytics, marketing analytics, and the roadmap for AI/ML adoption.

Strong English communication skills are required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Turno’s data & AI strategy.
  • Own BigQuery/DBT pipelines, Segment/Mixpanel events, and Looker dashboards.
  • Deliver trusted metrics, executive reporting, and self-serve analytics.
  • Partner with Product on funnels/experiments and with Marketing/Growth on attribution and ROI.
  • Build AI/ML readiness: embeddings, vector stores, feature pipelines, evaluation frameworks.
  • Manage and grow the data team; mentor ICs as a player-coach.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in data engineering/BI/analytics; 3+ years leading teams.
  • Expert SQL (BigQuery or similar), strong DBT (tests, CI/CD, exposures), Python for ETL/automation.
  • Looker/LookML governance and dashboard design.
  • Segment/Mixpanel experience (tracking plans, QA, event parity).
  • Product analytics (funnels, experiments) and marketing analytics (attribution, ROI).
  • AI/ML enablement exposure: embeddings, vector/feature stores, evaluation frameworks.
  • Excellent English communication; crisp with execs and stakeholders.
  • Bonus Points: SaaS/marketplace/fintech background preferred.
