Turno is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our Cleaner Marketplace Team—the group responsible for the core marketplace that powers host–cleaner connections. This role combines technical contribution with people leadership, ensuring our marketplace scales reliably and delivers exceptional user experiences.

Role Summary

The Engineering Manager will split time between hands-on technical work and leadership responsibilities. You’ll guide a team of frontend and backend engineers, partner closely with Product and Design, and set the technical direction for the marketplace. You’ll be accountable for engineering quality, system reliability, and team health, while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of engineers working on Turno’s Cleaner Marketplace.
• Contribute directly to code, architecture, and design reviews; write production code where needed to unblock or accelerate delivery.
• Partner with Product and Design to deliver features that improve cleaner discovery, booking, reliability, and marketplace health.
• Drive architectural decisions, enforce clean engineering practices, and champion technical excellence.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of the marketplace platform.
• Scope, prioritize, and execute roadmap initiatives while balancing speed with quality.
• Promote developer productivity through better tooling, processes, and AI-assisted development.
• Establish and track metrics for engineering quality, delivery speed, and system reliability.
• Collaborate with other squads to deliver cohesive end-to-end user experiences.

Qualifications

• 7+ years professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role.
• Hands-on expertise with modern web stacks (TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, cloud environments like GCP or AWS).
• Proven ability to design and ship reliable, scalable systems with measurable business impact.
• Strong people management skills: hiring, coaching, and developing engineers.
• Track record balancing coding with leadership responsibilities in a high-velocity environment.
• Strong communication skills to align engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Passion for building marketplaces and improving trust, reliability, and user conversion.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development (Cursor, MCP, Copilot, etc.).
